ECW has received $71,560 from the federal government to hold electric vehicle information sessions throughout Southwestern New Brunswick, raising awareness on how EV’s and new technologies to help combat the climate crisis.

Existing government funding programs have helped to address barriers to purchasing and using electric vehicles. Research notes a large deterrent for the overall EV transition process is public lack of awareness regarding how zero emission vehicles work and benefit the environment.

Thierry Spiess, Advance Vehicle Senior Manager at Natural Resources Canada, noted in an interview with Electric Autonomy Canada that “the initiative (ZEVAI) was built based on the premise that knowledge leads to confidence, which leads to action.”

ECW understands there exists a learning curve challenge for electric vehicles and electric vehicle infrastructure. Through this funding, ECW will double its efforts to expand learning sessions and opportunities in southwestern New Brunswick, especially to rural community groups. Last year ECW held 6 public community events to teach community groups about our Project : Village Car Share initiative.

ECW hopes to build on this to help close the public learning gap by launching educational events that will connect people to accurate research, professionals and experts, and provide experiential opportunities. ECW team will collaborate with ZEV professionals, community members, local municipalities, and partnering organizations to ensure quality educational content and set effective delivery strategies.

ECW’s latest initiative Project : Village Car Share is poised to launch with community partner organizations soon.

Our first free public event will launch on February 25, 2022. You can learn more about & register for the event at www.projectvillage.ca/events.
